What We Do
Building sustaiable economics development research capacity in Vietnam
To build economics sustaiable research capacity in Vietnam, IED conducts three key activities that have proven successful:
1. Competitive individual research grants;
2. In-country small research grants and training programs; and
3. Training courses in economics sustainable development, such as short (1-2 weeks) courses or annual workshops
IED encourages a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to research; develops training and teaching resources in Vietnam and in the region; and strengthens Vietnam community of economists by supporting IED associations. Altogether, these initiatives furthered the growth of the field of sustainable economics development in Vietnam .
Increasing country collaboration and knowledge sharing
In order to increase country collaboration and knowledge sharing towards improving economical sustainable development research capacity in the Vietnam, IED supports country research projects and knowledge events (i.e., conferences, dialogues, seminars, forums), which provide a chance for researchers, teachers, policymakers from all over country to interact and learn from each other’s experiences. One week’s annual workshops are the focal point of the Program. They bring together all active researchers, teachers and other authors of new proposals, with resource persons and eminent speakers.
Promoting the relevance of sustaiable economics development
The ultimate purpose of all economical sustainable development (ESD) research is for its results to inform sustainable development. Thus, IED actively promotes the relevance of economical sustainable development in decision-making and policymaking through its publications, the efforts of its researchers, and its learning and knowledge events for government policymakers, economical managers and other users of ESD research.
